The Marconi Society is proud to announce its Marconi Prize for innovators who have made a significant contribution to increasing digital inclusivity through advanced information and communications technology.
The Marconi Prize is awarded to established scientists who have created and scaled the connected world.Ā Nominees are recognized for their impacts on widely-used technology, the scientific importance of their work, their entrepreneurial contributions, and the applicability of their work to social and humanitarian efforts.
Marconi Society seeks diverse candidates with exceptional records who will bring an engaged, socially conscious perspective to the Marconi Society community and its work to expand digital inclusion through information and communications technology.
Marconi Fellows are recognized at an annual symposium and festive gala celebration.
Areas
The Marconi Prize is awarded based on the candidateās contributions in the following areas:
- The significance of the impact of the nomineeās work on widely-used technology.
- The scientific importance of the nomineeās work in setting the stage for, influencing, and advancing the field beyond the nomineeās own achievements.
- The nomineeās contributions to innovation and entrepreneurship by introducing completely new ideas, methods, or technologies. These may include forming, leading, or advising organizations, mentoring students on moving ideas from research to implementation, or fostering new industries/enabling scale implementation.
- The social and humanitarian impact of the nomineeās contributions to the design, development, and/or deployment of new communication technologies or communications public policies that promote social development and/or inclusiveness.
Nomination
You will need to have the following:
- The current address and contact information for the candidate.
- A proposed award citation for the nominee (20 words).
- Statement of the candidateās primary field of contribution.
- The nomineeās curriculum vitae.
- The nomineeās publication list (including patents).
- A list of awards and honors received by the nominee.
- A description of the the impact of the nomineeās work on widely-used technologies, the scientific impact of the work, the nomineeās contributions to innovation and entrepreneurship and the social and humanitarian impact of the nomineeās innovations (500 words for each element).
- At least two letters of references, in addition to the nomination, from recognized individuals who have substantial knowledge of the candidateās work (up to five are permitted). No more than two of the nominator/references can have been affiliated with the candidateās institution(s) in the past five years.
