Catholic Relief Services a Development Organization is seeking qualified, experienced, and highly motivated Driver/Messenger in Bamenda in the ACER IV project. The Anglophone Crisis Emergency Response IV (ACER IV) is an emergency response project in its fourth year of implementation that aims to alleviate the suffering of displaced and vulnerable host households in Mezam, Momo, Ngoketunjia, Bui and Boyo Divisions in the Northwest region of Cameroon as a result of the ongoing crisis.The Driver/ Messenger will provide various messenger and mission (driving) services supporting the Administration and Programming in Bamenda. This will include messenger services on administrative matters with public administrative services, vendors, and partners. Must ensure strict management and stewardship of CRS resources.

The position is based in Bamenda / Cameroon

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Complete messenger services by car as needed daily
  • Complete travel for CRS personnel
  • Pickup and drop off of CRS staff and visitors at the airport
  • Collect proformas from vendors
  • Messenger for bank services including deposit/return of paperwork and cash
  • Ensure payments and filing of certain small purchases such as for water, electricity, and internet
  • Deliver payment of fiscal obligations to applicable office (tax, CNPS…) and collecting proof of payment or other documentation
  • Ensure follow-up of license/title renewals for cars
  • Ensure daily local postage as needed
  • Ensure maintenance of CRS cars (including notification of breakdowns, ensuring cleaning, and ensuring review of cars after travel)
  • Inform supervisor of expiration dates for cars (carte grise, insurance, etc…) and assist in processing renewal
  • Ensure monitoring of gas/petrol of the cars and ensure appropriate fueling in line with internal procedures
  • Ensure the control of mileage and quality data entry in vehicle logs for inputting in CRS systems
  • Ensure control of oil and other vehicle usage (tracking usage, quality of items, replacement as needed…)
  • Other tasks as needed

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Completion of Secondary Education
  • Driver’s license valid for the next 12 months at least
  • Experience driving for the last 3 years. Experience with an international non-government organizational is a plus.
  • Able to provide reports in writing.
  • Knowledge and familiarity in using MS Excel and Word a plus.

Required Languages

  • Fluency in English required; Ability to Understand Spoken French is desirable.

Required Travel: Must be willing and able to travel up to 40% (mostly within Cameroon).
