MEAL Field Assistant

Catholic Relief Services a Development Organization is seeking qualified, experienced, and highly motivated MEAL Field Assistant who will work closely with the MEAL Director to provide service in the day-to-day delivery of responsive, effective, and efficient programming field activities for monitoring, evaluation, accountability, and learning (MEAL), in support of the Catholic Relief Services’ (CRS) mission to serve the poor and vulnerable. You will assist emergency programming field activities for (MEAL) by working directly with local partners and community members within the Key Interventions to Develop Sytems and Services for Orphans and Vulnerable Children (KIDSS) project. Your service and community interpersonal skills contribute to projects that benefit local communities, consistently apply best practices, and continuously work towards improving their impact. This role is a three-month temporary hire to support close-out of the KIDSS project as the local partner, the National Episcopal Conference of Cameroon (NECC), will take over the project in January 2023

The position is based in Yaoundé/Cameroon

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Support MEAL-related programming activities at the field and office level, including coordination of data management, data entry, data cleaning, basic analysis, and report writing to inform project progress in line with CRS and donor standards, best practices, and regulations.
  • Support the KIDSS MEAL Director and program team in developing a MEAL transition roadmap for handover of the MEAL system to NECC and tracking milestones
  • Support the KIDSS MEAL Director in consolidating project documentation to facilitate close-out and transition of project.
  • Support community mobilization efforts through communication and information sharing with project participants at the community level.
  • In coordination with the project team. support MEAL-related capacity building events for local partners.
  • Contribute to program learning and decisions by participating in regular program close-out meetings, posing thoughtful questions, reflecting upon and sharing with project team leaders the information gathered from community members and observations.
  • Contribute to ensuring accountability to project participants and local stakeholders, including encouraging CRS and partner staff to actively seek and respond to feedback from all members of target communities as per the established community feedback mechanism.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • High School Diploma required. Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning and at least 6 months of experience in MEAL with an International NGO.
  • Minimum 1-2 years’ work or volunteer experience in supporting community development and mobilization.
  • Experience using MS Windows and MS Office packages (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).

Required Languages

  • Fluency in French, Professional Proficiency in English required.

  • Proactive, results-oriented and service-oriented

Required Travel: Must be willing and able to travel up to 40% within project zones to support implementing partners or other CRS offices.
