Pharmacist
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Completes pharmacy operational requirements by organizing and directing technician’s work flow; verifying preparation of purchase request, reception, storage, management, and labeling of pharmaceuticals; verifying order entries, charges and inspections.
- Provides pharmacological information on request to health care professionals;
- Develop hospital staff’s pharmacological knowledge by participating in clinical programs; training pharmacy staff and health care professionals on rational drug use and other topics
- Complies with MOH guidelines as regulated by the state board of pharmacy, the department of pharmacy, medicines and laboratory (DPML) of the MOH, by monitoring clinical unit inspections; maintaining records for medicines and controlled substances; removing outdated and damaged drugs from the pharmacy inventory; supervising the work results of support personnel; maintaining current registration; studying existing and new legislation and advising management on needed actions.
- Protect patients and technicians by adhering to infection-control protocols.
- Reviews prescription issued by clinicians, or other authorized prescriber to assure accuracy, appropriateness of medication, and determine formulas and ingredients needed
- Train pharmacy staff to provide information to pharmacy customers on drug interactions, side effects, dosage and storage of pharmaceuticals.
- Ensure medicines are stored appropriately and securely;
- Supervises the work of less experienced and less qualified staff (MoH pharmacy) attendants
- Provides information on expenditure on drugs;
- Prepares and quality-checks sterile medications, for example, intravenous medications;
- Work effectively with other IMC employees, managers, and departments
- Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed
- Perform all job functions with IMC mission, vision and goal statements in mind
- Other duties as maybe required
Required Qualifications, Skills and Experience
- Diploma or Doctorate in Pharmaceutical sciences
- At least two years’ experience in the same field preferably with an INGO
- Stock management
- Pharmacy management
- Experience in training pharmacists or pharmacy attendants
- Fluency in spoken and written English is a mandatory requirement
- Familiarity with humanitarian operations, coordination structures, and the mandates of donors, UN agencies and other NGOs
- Cross-cultural awareness and insight into health care issues
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written;
- Excellent self-motivation skills;
- Ability to exercise sound judgment and make decisions independently;
- Excellent ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast paced and constantly changing environment;
- Be flexible, possess the ability to cope in stressful situations;
- Be creative and possess the ability to work with limited resources;
- Strong analytical and research skills;
- Strong computer skills, especially with MS Word, MS Excel, and MS PowerPoint

The fluid nature of emergency response requires personnel to adapt to a rapidly changing landscape; duties may be reconfigured to meet operational requirements.
