The Y.I.L Fellowship is a four-month challenging scholarship programme for young professionals.
The Y.I.L Fellowship is designed on a three-pronged strategy: Selection, Training, and Mentorship. They realize that the similarities in the challenge of thriving are more important than the differences. The key choices that young people face and the principles that help them scale up excellence are strikingly consistent â whether it is a fresh graduate who has studied Physics but is considering taking a marketing job with a bank for lack of job, a house officer who thinks he made a mistake studying medicine as against pursuing a career in fine and applied arts, or a fresh graduate of Mathematics with magna cum laude who for financial constraints chooses to take a job with a local company in Nigeria as against pursuing the dreams of furthering his studies in Europe. They all have got similar challenge rooted in the zest to scale up excellence.
Themes
- The theme of the Y.I.L Fellowship is âscaling up excellenceâ. The fellowship programme includes: lectures, plenary sessions, workshops, and demonstrations. Important aspects of the training are: the challenge phase, the accelerator, the internship, and the mentorship.

Eligibility Criteria
- The programme is specifically for those who consider themselves outstanding and possess exceptional talents. This application is open to persons from all parts of the world
- The Y.I.L Fellowship aims to draw participation from excellent persons in their early career stage. The purpose is to give them the springboard to launch a successful career and have an impactful professional life. With a focus in âinnovation in leadershipâ and âleadership in innovationâ, They aim to raise cohorts of competent leaders who will be adept in identifying needs, designing solutions geared towards sustainable change, and scaling up the changes. Human capital development is their focus. Theybelieve that the drawback to their development as a people depends on their capabilities and capacities. The right place to start is in the minds of their young talents who have demonstrated some level of excellence in their endeavours.
- Resources Persons
- They train their participants through experts and industry leaders. Beyond the three months training, participants, who are now fellows, have the privilege of receiving an optional continuous annual mentorship. Experts who belong on their platform also offer the annual mentorship. They are recruiting resource persons from across the globe to groom their participants. Therefore, they demand that referrals be made to them of persons that could serve as advisors, mentors and facilitators in The Y.I.L Fellowship.
- Organisations
- Corporate organisations must see this effort as a win for them. Obviously, no institution can grow beyond the human capital it is endowed with. - Standard Track
- Applicants should be between 20 and 30 years of age
- They should be graduates within their first 5 years post-graduation
- Applicants should have some demonstrable level of mastery of a hard skill
- They should have a track record of excellence
- They will be ready to go through a multistage rigorous selection process
- Executive Track
- Applicants should not be more than 40 years of age
- They should have at least 3 years of work experience managing or leading an innovative initiative
- They should have a track record of excellence
- Institutional Track
- This is specially designed for corporate organizations and institutions who desire to sponsor their employees for the YIL Fellowship.
- Organizations will present employees to participate in the programme. All candidates will undergo a screening process.
- Organizations will present a challenge from within the organization or the industry to be solved during the fellowship. Solutions developed in the programme will belong to the organization.
