Nominations are now open for Evidence Generation Award that aims to generate evidence on the current use and gaps in the application of digital health technologies in Global South.

Funds requested should be commensurate with the activities outlined in the proposal. Collaborative submissions among multiple countries are highly welcome.

The proposed project team must include at least one local institution based in the country or region that the evidence generation will focus on. Collaborative submission with a Korean entity is encouraged but not required.

  • Scope
    • Current use of and gaps in the application of digital platforms in infectious disease prevention/control or delivery of primary health care services in Low- and Middle-Income Countries (LMICs).
  • Intent
    • Assess the public health value of digital health technologies as global public good
    • Define problems to be solved with digital technologies that reflect the gaps and needs in LMICs
  • Partnership requirement
    • Collaboration with a Korean entity encouraged but not required
    • Must include local institutions from the countries that the proposed activities focus on.
Themes
  • These cautionary notes highlight the importance of centering digital health technologies around the values of public health value and equity. In this Request for Proposal (RFP) for the
  • Evidence Generation Award (EGA), they are soliciting proposals under two themes.
    • Theme 1: Critical analysis of the Context-Mechanism-Outcome of digital health technologies implemented to improve population-level health.
    • Theme 2: Evaluation of computer aided detection (CAD) programmes for automated detection of tuberculosis (TB).
Funding Information
  • Award amount: Up to 200 million KRW per project. The award will be disbursed in the Korean Won. The funding amount will be determined to be commensurate with the proposed activities (e.g., complexity, geographic reach, requirement for primary data collection)
  • Project duration: Up to 12 months.

Eligibility for funding

  • The RIGHT Foundation reserves the right to determine the eligibility of applicants and public health priority among the submitted proposals at its discretion.
  • Partnership requirement
    • The applicant team must include at least one local institution based in the country or region that the proposed evidence generation will focus on. Collaborative submissions among the institutions in the Global South are highly welcome and encouraged. Inclusion of a Korean entity is encouraged but not required.
    • The applicants will be asked to articulate a collaboration plan to demonstrate how each member will contribute to the project in a manner that facilitates thought partnership throughout the proposal development, data collection and/or analysis.
    • Quality of collaboration will be one of the proposal evaluation criteria. They are seeking collaboration with a potential for substantive exchange of knowledge and/or skills grounded in mutual respect and co-learning.
