With a new funding from BMZ, Plan International Cameroon through its PIIA in Maroua will implement from July 2023 to June 2026, the Youth learn, earn and prosper in the Lake Chad region project. Under the supervision of the Emergency Response Manager , the Project Coordinator is responsible for the overall planning, coordination and operationalization of the implementation of project activities. The incumbent will be responsible for effective interventions, strategic and operational guidance and technical advice. He/she will work directly with the ERM and all the staff involved in the different component of the project. He/she will participate in technical coordination meetings related to the project coordination. S/he will S/he will ensure quality and norms in the livelihood/SRHR/Social cohesion projects implementation. The post-holder will also be responsible for assessment, response analysis, design/revision and implementation of the livelihood/SRHR component of Plan’s emergency response in the Far North Region of Cameroon.

Dimensions of the Role

 

Missions :

Under the supervision of the Director of Humanitarian Response of the Plan International Cameroon Office in Maroua, the Coordinator is responsible for the overall planning, coordination and operationalization of project activities. The incumbent will be expected to comply with the strategic directions as well as programmatic and administrative standards defined by both Plan International and the donor. He/she will also be responsible for supervising the staff under his/her authority as well as ensuring the quality of the intervention, the respect of deadlines …

Specifically, the Project Coordinator will be responsible for:

  • Ensure the integrated implementation of all project components and activities,
  • Provide advice and technical expertise for project management, including implementation, monitoring and evaluation of activities,
  • In collaboration with the project staff, ensure compliance with quality standards and deadlines according to the requirements of Plan International and the donor,
  • Prepare, in collaboration with the project team, the technical and financial documents to be submitted to the supervisor for approval,
  • Ensure the management, supervision and capacity building of the members of the Project team,
  • Ensure the full participation of stakeholders at all stages of the Project and maintain good relations with them;
  • Ensure the management of partnership relationships with the various stakeholders involved in the implementation of the project
  • Make adjustment proposals to the Emergency Response Manager and to the Education and YEC (Youth Engagement and Consultation) Specialists in view of the opportunities and constraints encountered in the context of the implementation of the project.
  • Submit to the Emergency Response Manager and within the required deadlines the various project implementation reports (narrative and financial reports…) after the review of the Education and YEC (Youth Engagement and Consultation) Specialists.
  • Perform any other duties assigned by the hierarchy.
  • The Project Coordinator will be based in the Maroua Programme Unit area, including the town of Maroua.

 

Profile sought for the position: BMZ Project Coordinator

  • Hold a Bac+4 university degree in education, social sciences, project/program management or equivalent;
  • Knowledge of INEE standards;
  • Long experience and perfect knowledge of Project Planning, Programming and Monitoring/Evaluation procedures;
  • Have skills in the analysis of statistical data;
  • Have at least 03 years of continuous experience in the management of humanitarian projects;
  • Practical and relevant experience in emergency response, including education and peaceful coexistence;
  • Experience in community development projects, participatory development, social/community mobilization (youth, women…)
  • Be bilingual (English and French)
  • Have a good knowledge of the computer tool and have a good aptitude in reporting;
  • Knowledge of texts on the status of refugees and internally displaced populations, the Plan International Policy on Education, Child Protection, Community Mobilization, Gender and GBV would be an additional asset.
  • Good knowledge and understanding of established humanitarian principles and international child protection standards.
  • Solid experience in project and budget management.
