Access Assistant (Local hire)

Responsibilities

Within limits of delegated authority, the Access Assistant is responsible for the following duties:

  • Assist the Access manager in collecting, updating, and communicating information regarding the security situation in NW Region.
  • Helps to assess the security situation at the Region and ensures adequate gathering and verification of security information that may be required for a proper analysis of the situation.
  • Communicate information on security issues to the Security manager and provide suggestions.
  • Maintain regular contacts with Security Focal Points of IMC.
  • May be requested to provide technical assistance at SMT meetings.
  • Assist in maintaining the security plan, including updates on security situation in intervention sites.
  • Support actions during the implementation of the Security Plan as required.
  • Assist with the monitoring of security measures implemented as recommended in the Security Risk Management (SRM) process.
  • Help in the preparation and review of IMC Security Plan.
  • Assist in reporting security incidents affecting IMC staff, offices, assets, and intervention sites; and assist in preparing security reports such as incidents, weekly reports and other security assessments.
  • Provide support in organising and conducting training courses on security awareness and preparedness and providing security orientation to newly assigned staff members. Conduct security briefings as required.

Perform other security related tasks:

  • Provide support in conducting security evaluations and provides advice on Residential Security Measures (if required) as well as on latest trends and threats to staff safety and security in operation sites.
  • Establish and maintain the warden system and keep update of information related to IMC office, and Guest House.
  • Maintain liaison with commercial companies used for IMC security at office and GH to facilitate the effective and efficient use the guard force.

Provide general administrative assistance

  • Maintain routine and confidential correspondence files/documents.
  • Maintain database on contact details of security authorities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Uses time efficiently.

Education

University degree or Diploma in security is required

Work experience

At least two years’ work experience in security, risk or disaster or emergency areas with security responsibilities in public or private service areas military, police, or NGO environment.

Experience in the use of Microsoft applications i.e., Word, Excel Access and PowerPoint are required.

Prior experience with a National or International NGO is desirable.

Experience in the use of radio communication systems is an added advantage

Languages

English and French are IMC working languages. For the position advertised, fluency in English language and understanding of local languages spoken in the area is required.

Travel to the field to deploy or accompany staff on supervision
