Job description
The EU-co-funded project ‘Promoting gender-transformative approaches to strengthen the resilience of Cameroon’s civil society, with a special focus on the North-West and South-West regions of Cameroon’, is part of the cluster ‘Decentralisation and Good Governance’ and the EU’s Multiannual Indicative Planning 2021-2027. It focuses on the organizational strengthening of the Cameroon’s civil society and gender-transformative approaches, especially in the Anglophone Northwest and Southwest areas, where armed clashes between separatists and the government have been taking place since 2016 based on socio-political tensions in post-colonial Cameroon. Two of the three components of the project are being implemented in these regions and are intended to support local civil society in promoting social cohesion and livelihoods among the population and mitigating gender-based violence. In the first component, civil society will be supported across Cameroon, with a focus on national and regional network structures to strengthen organizational capacities at different levels of institutionalization, including the management of funding.
Your tasks
- Identification of civil society networks at national and regional level in terms of gender-sensitive and gender-transformative approaches
- Organisation of dialogues for the prioritization of social needs and gender transformation
- Establishment of the conditions for a micro-fund call for tenders for support to civil society in terms of networks between large and small Non-Governmental Organisations, Civil Society Organisations, Community-Based Organisations and decentralized state institutions
- Organisation and participation in the selection of networks to be supported by a representative committee of relevant partners
- Advise to the selected networks in the implementation of the funded projects and capacitation of organisations in the management of projects and resources, organisational development and gender-transformative approaches
Your profile
- Master’s degree in social or economic sciences, gender studies, development studies or professional formation in business
- First experience working in organisational development in the areas of civil society or gender equality
- First professional experience in development or intercultural cooperation
- Knowledge of the country is an asset; intercultural competence
- Competence in conflict management; negotiation skills
- Excellent ability to work in a team environment
- High degree of self-organization and structured working method
- Business fluent in French, English and/or German

At the site of operation, the particulate pollution occurs to be many time higher than the European acceptable limit. As part of the selection process and during the recruitment examination you will be informed of appropriate protective and behavioral measures.
