In Cameroon, the IRC began its programming in the Far North region in 2016, in the Southwest region in 2018, and in the Northwest region in 2019 – providing food security support, improvement of WASH services and infrastructures, and protection of rights of affected population including prevention and response to Gender-Based Violence.
Job overview/summary:
Under the direct supervision of the Grants Coordinator, the Grants Officer is responsible for providing support to the IRC team, by supporting the reporting process to donors and for internal purposes, maintaining grant files and tracking documents (in Excel) and IRC databases, scheduling and organizing regular grant meetings, and day-to-day grant management.

Other internal and/or external contacts: The Grants Officer (GO) will work closely with the Partnership Manager, Technical Coordinators, Project Managers, Senior Project Manager as well as the Monitoring and Evaluation Department, to ensure quality grant management.
Principal Responsibilities:
The GO will support the Grants Coordinator in the management of all donor activities and the development of donor documents to ensure quality donor relations and timely reporting; monitoring the grant management system; documentation of results and reports, including the preparation and/or revision of information for internal stakeholders.
Specific Responsibilities:
Grants Management System:
· Develop and maintain grant management tools, such as grant trackers, reporting schedules, templates, and ensure that the team is aware of deadlines.
· Support the Program and Operations team, Grants Coordinator in the preparation and follow-up of project cycle meetings, and lead meetings as requested.
· In collaboration with program and operations teams, put in place effective systems to ensure timely reporting to donors, assist other staff in understanding donor requirements and ensuring reports are in the correct format, and edit sections of reports as necessary.
· Support in the production of donor reports and ensure that reports are of high quality and submitted on time.
– Assist in addressing donor compliance questions/issues for IRC Cameroon.
· Assist in the preparation of, and participate in, external monitoring visits, reviews and audits, and inter-site evaluations as required.
· Establish and maintain electronic and paper files for each grant-funded project for monitoring and reporting purposes.
· Conduct routine compliance reviews of grant programs.
· Support, at the request of the Grants Coordinator, the analysis of the spending plan.
· Work closely with the finance and grants teams to review and adjust the budget as necessary.
· When needed, assist in the administration of pre-award due diligence processes and other partnership/subaward related duties.
Communication:
In Collaboration with the Grants Coordinator the GO will be responsible for:
· Contribute to the drafting, writing, and editing of IRC external and internal newsletters and ensure that colleagues’ contributions are shared in a timely manner.
· Work to develop fact sheets and success stories related to our activities.
· Lead with the support of the Grants Coordinator in reviewing IRC and donor visibility materials ensuring that they are IRC and donor compliant.
· Occasionally conduct field visits and content collection missions from HQ to capture stories.
Qualifications · Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field and applicable experience in non-profit governance, administration, and grant management, including business development and compliance.
· At least one year of experience in a grants management role, preferably in an NGO.
· Previous experience in grants management and knowledge of US (USAID/BHA, BPRM), European (ECHO, SIDA) government regulations, procedures, and donor requirements.
· Proven experience in coordinating institutional and private donor reporting.
· Ability to effectively manage competing priorities.
· Excellent oral and written communication skills and proven ability to produce and edit documents under time pressure.
· Working knowledge of budget preparation and management.
· Proficiency with Windows, Microsoft Office.
· Ability to work in volatile security environments.
· Fluent written and spoken English.
Work Environment:
The Grants Officer (GO) will be based in Buea.
