For our Country Office in Cameroon, we are looking for a dynamic and committed Technical Assistant for Ndongo.
Reports to: Ndongo Site Coordinator
Location: Ndongo (Southwest of Moloundou; East region)
Duration: Two (02) Years renewable
The mission of the department
WWF is supporting the Government of Cameroon towards sustainable natural resources management, and development of green growth in TRIDOM Cameroon landscape, and the mission of the department is to ensure the development and implementation of the Jengi TRIDOM programme to the highest standards, in line with the WWF Cameroon Conservation Strategy.
Major Functions
- Works closely with the Ndongo Site Coordinator and other staff to ensure implementation of CIBEL project activities;
- Interact with all target groups, including local communities and indigenous peoples in the project area, in order to build their capacity and monitor project implementation with them.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
- Ensure the permanent presence of mixed teams (Ecogardes – IP&LC) for ecological monitoring of the Youmbi clearing in the south of Nki National Park;
- Strengthen the technical capabilities of Eco guards, IP&LC on Forest Navigation tools, SMART approach, ecological monitoring data collection, and sustainable management of technical equipment;
- Assist the Site coordinator in Training and supporting women’s groups (Bantu and Baka) who collect NTFPs in the sustainable collection, storage, processing and marketing of NTFPs;Assist the site coordinator in Training groups of women (Bantu and Baka) who collect NTFPs in setting up and managing a tree nursery;Assist the Site coordinator to support the ADILEM, ACODELIMIT and ACODENDO community forests in carrying out socio-economic studies, producing and obtaining management documents (PSG, SIGIF2, etc.) and the sustainable exploitation of their forests;Assist the Site cordinator to Ensure capacity building for the young community forests of ADILEM, ACODELIMIT and ACODENDO on cubing techniques and the use of processing equipment and other logging equipment;Assist the Site Cordinator in monitoring the implementation of the complaints mechanism for the resolution and prevention of violations and abuses in the Ndongo zone;Assist the Site Cordinator to organise fishermen into groups and ensure capacity building in sustainable fishing techniques;Assist the Site cordinator in supporting cocoa farmers by organising them into cooperatives, building their capacity and helping them to produce sustainable cocoa.
Profile:
Required Qualifications:
- Senior Technician or BTSin the field of Agronomy, Agribusiness, Agro-forestry, forestry, Business Development, or related field;
- At least 02 years’ experience within a project team;
Required Skills and Competencies:
- Suitable for rural life and aptitude for living remote areas;
- Understanding of forest and wildlife policy, and natural resource management principles;
- Excellent people, diplomacy, and conflict resolution skills to handle complex and highly sensitive multi-stakeholder situations;
- Strong communication skills;
- Fluency in French is desirable;
- Quick thinking; capability of reacting under pressure;

Maintains close working relations and interactions with Jengi TRIDOM PM, B&I coordinator, Forest and Climate coordinator, IP coordinator, B&I assistants and other Jengi TRIDOM staffs.
- External
Interacts with in-country governmental institutions, non-governmental organizations and different stakeholders in Jengi area .
