Women Engagement Agent (Local Position)
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES/SCOPE OF WORK

- Program management and supervision:
Under the direct supervision of the GBV Supervisor of the intervention area, the Women Engagement Agent is responsible for the following duties:
- Collaborate in the development of curricula, tools and other resources for activities hosted in the WGSS
- Facilitate activities in collaboration with women and girls and other activities facilitator
- Identify strategies to ensure that (as much as possible) activities participants represent different population groups (ethnicities, religious, minorities, vulnerabilities, …)
- Identify, design and facilitate activities tailored on age and vulnerability type
- Ensure activities are inclusive and different women’s group attending activities and are equally engaged
- Ensure activities taking place in the WGSS maintain the WGSS appealing and relevant for women and girls
- Ensure consistency between the messages delivered inside and outside the WGSS. Ensure activities feedbacks inform both activities based inside and outside the WGSS
- Discuss and prepare in collaboration with women and girls and activities’ facilitators the WGSS work plan on a regular base
- Identify strategies/activities to create a welcoming, respectful and no judgmental environment
- Support in the development of IEC material in collaboration with women and girls, WGSS’s personnel
- Train, mentor, coach women empowerment activities carried out by CBOs/VSLA to build their capacities to organize and facilitate sessions, meetings and activities using EASE approach
- Follow up daily basis the IGA carried out by CBOs/VSLA groups
- Review and incorporate members’ feedbacks on activities
- Provide input for weekly and staff activity reports
- Implement all community mobilization activities with the aim to engage the community in all interventions,
- Provide the technical management of cases of GBV
- Respect the confidentiality of information concerning refugees and work in the refugee sites or off-sites according to the standard criteria of IMC and PRM
- Ensure that all home visits and case documentation are recorded in the appropriate files or tools for case management and maintain orderly, transparent filing and accessible to management
- Ensure the supervision of the community volunteers
- Manage and assist cases of GBV survivors in the intervention area, particularly responsible of Psycho-social cases.
- Provide comprehensive psychosocial counseling to GBV survivors focused on the survivor centered case management approach.
- Provide assessment and counseling both at individual and group level as the situation demands.
- Document beneficiaries’ data accurately using all GBV standard forms and ensure that they are kept in appropriate places that only authorized persons can access.
- Maintain and strengthen existing networks with other service providers, to ensure that GBV survivors receive qualitative services and support.
- Attend training forums relevant to the job.
- Responsible of referring beneficiaries to the concerned service provider by using referral pathway and referral inter-agency form.
- Support the program team when needed as well the Project Supervisors and Managers for any necessary support to the proper conduct of the activities including community activities, trainings and international events:
- Monitoring and Reporting:
- Ensure accurate data collection of field activities by Community based protection committees;
- Compile data and submit weekly narrative and statistics reports to the GBV Supervisor;
- Maintains flexibility to perform other tasks when requested by the GBV Supervisor.
- Procurement:
- Work in close collaboration with the GBV Supervisor to prepare Procurement requisition;
- Work closely with GBV Supervisor, community based protection committees and Logistic in identifying adequate supplies, materials and equipment needed to implement activities;
- Ensure the distribution of material and equipment to the beneficiaries on the field by respecting the IMC code of conduct.
- Representation and coordination:
- With the support of GBV Supervisor, promotes and manages positive relationships with local administrative authorities, others partners, service providers and the beneficiaries.
QUALIFICATIONS
- To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function with or without reasonable accommodation.
- A degree in Social Work, Sociology, gender, Public Health, International Development or other relevant field of study, or equivalent experience
- Two years of experience in GBV program design and implementation especially with refugees.
- Relevant experience in the area is strongly preferred
- Familiarity with standards and guidelines for GBV programming as well as guidance on protection from sexual exploitation and abuse (SEA)
- Familiarity with international humanitarian operations, coordination structures,
- Ability to exercise sound judgment, to remain flexible to a changing environment, and to make decisions independently
- Ability to work well with a cross-cultural team and under pressure.
- Strong communication skills, both oral and written
- Fluency in written and spoken French, English and Fulfulde language desirable;

TRAINING / CAPACITY BUILDING:
- Advocate and plan for professional development for yourself, and any staff supervised by you.
- Provide input to, and deliver, where applicable, training for national staff to increase their responsibilities in order to build capacity, and ensure sustainability of programs.
- Security:
- Ensure compliance with security protocols and policies;
- Consider security implications of all program activities, reviewing all new initiatives with others staffs and community leaders and community volunteers.
- Compliance & Ethics:
- Promotes and encourages a culture of compliance and ethics throughout International Medical Corps. As applicable to the position, maintains a clear understanding of International Medical Corps’ and donor compliance and ethics standards and adheres to those standards.
- Conducts work with the highest level of integrity.
- Communicates these standards to staff, if applicable, and to partners and requires them to adhere to these values.
- Prevention of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse:
Actively promote PSEA (Prevention of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse) standards within International Medical Corps and amongst beneficiaries served by International Medical Corps
